Infant-Parent Training Institute:
Ways of Looking at the Parent-Infant Relationship: Integrating Theory, Practice and Video Observation

What is parent-infant mental health? Who are the major theorists and practitioners? What tools do they offer to clinicians in the field? This monthly seminar is designed for professionals who wish to enrich their understanding of parent-infant psychotherapy. Through readings, discussion, and video observation, seminar participants will be introduced to a variety of psychotherapy modalities that clinicians can use to enhance the relationship between parents and young children. Discussion will focus on how participants can integrate theories of parent-infant psychotherapy into their own clinical work. Participants may present their own cases or video-tapes of their work, but this is not a requirement. This course will be useful for both experienced and less experienced infant-parent psychotherapists as well as others who work with young children, such as Early Intervention providers. This course is also appropriate for those who would like to bring these principles to their work with older children or adults.
